Families coping

This week we did our families coping about parties on a budget. Here is the Affordable Party post.

Tomorrow,  My oldest is moving with two of her friends. The girls are so excited a new adventure in their lives. Kelsey has found most all her furnishings at garage sales, Savers or Goodwill. I am also hearing many asking “Kelsey what do you need for our new apartment?”  Everything from lamps to a table and chairs.

With her new adventure comes the question: Do we continue to pay her cell phone? If we keep her on our cell plan it’s $12 a month or if she gets her own plan it’s $60 a month. The frugal in me say just continue and let her renew on mine and Parent says she needs to see what this adult world is like;  Also with the girls on my plan I pay an extra $20 added to my cell line because I am the primary number for unlimited texting. (something I rarely do)

Thanks and have a blessed weekend, Candy

They have a sale buy 2 Country Time drink mixes between 5/29 and 6/11, and you will get a $1 Catalina coupon good on you next general purchase. These are on sale for $1 each until 6/2.  Use the $1.50/2 printable coupon, spend .50 cents out of pocket and earn a $1 Catalina.

Here’s 2 sites for printing out coupons:

found on my home page dealwithitsimply.com

Then go to www.kraftfoods.com, click on the Coupons button at the top.  You’ll have to sign up with an e-mail address but no snail mail addy. 🙂  Once you sign up, they’ll allow you to print off a coupon.

New way to use old things!

I don’t know about you, but I love finding new uses for old things. The frugal way to recycle!  Here are a few ideas:

  • Sock with a hole– I cut the sock up the middle and use them for cleaning rags. If I have a dirty job I throw them away and have no guilt.
  • One sock the other is no where to be found, (My girls would wear it with a different sock.) I clean crystals on chandeliers by wetting the sock and put it on my hand and wiping the crystals or for regular dusting.
  • Mismatched sock–  use as hot pack, fill with rice tie a knot in the end and heat in the microwave for 1 minute.
  • Mesh bags– onions mesh bags I save them for pot scrubbers. You can also put a washcloth in the bag and really clean those pans. When the mesh needs to be cleaned I put them in the dishwasher to clean and disinfect.
  • Oranges- mesh bag– they are great for storing store plastic bags or bath toys for the kids.
  • This is a neat idea found at Our little apartment – Earring holder made with mesh and a frame.
  • Ketchup bottle– clean well and use it to make the perfect pancakes. Fill with your batter and squeeze just the right amount.
  • cereal box– we have made magazine holders and I found this while looking for a picture to show you. Drawer organizers This is going to be my next project!
  • Old CD’s– I use them for coasters. I was teasing my husband when we closed our business and he had all his CPR training videos, I finally got a matching set of coasters.
  • I found this at Real Simple CD case used as a recipe holder.
  • Toilet paper roll cardboard– use for storing extension and appliance cords. This is a picture found at Real Simple Magazine. I like to cut them in half for cell phone chargers and small appliance adapters.

If you have any to add let me know and have a blessed day, Candy

Thank you for your service!

Today is the day we set aside to Honor those who have died defending our country. Those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend and protect us.

We have always taught our children to thank servicemen and women for their service. A few years back we were in church and my son Jacob spotted a young man in his uniform. Jacob went up to him and said “Thank you for your service!”  The young Marine got choked up and said “you are welcome!”

I don’t care if we agree with the war or not, we have so many brave men and women serving our country. The families surviving at home without them, praying for safe return. Some may never come home and those who do we should rejoice and thank them for their service.

Here is a neat story in the Toledo Blade, a woman who has always given thanks and now needs us to continue her mission.  Memory keeper seeks help with mission of honor

God’s Blessings and thank you for your service, Candy
