Budget Killers and the people that love them!

As I am thinking about things that really hurt our budget, a news headline is running through my head:

Budget killers and the people who love them!

Here is a running list of things that hurt your budget and if you have any to add please do.

  1. Eating Out- Our youngest in baseball and when you work all day and have a game it is easy to run through a drive thru but when you have games 4 nights a week it can really add up. Solution: We have been using our crock pot and trying to eat before the game.
  2. Speaking of games Concession stands can really kill a budget $ 2 pop. Solution: We have been buying our own and bringing a cooler.
  3. Quick trips to the store- When I run real quick to the store I seem to spend more. Solution: I have been trying to plan so I don’t have a quick trips and I take my coupons in case I see some great deal.
  4. Kids and Car insurance- Lyndsey our 16 year old just got her license and insurance is high. Solution: She gets a good grade discount and the insurance company offers a safe driver course and she will get a discount. No good grades, No drive incentive for her!
  5. A night at a movies- In our area a night at the movies is very expensive then add the refreshments and you have spent a small fortune. Solution: For our family we watch movies on our neighbors garage with a small projector and laptop. Sitting by the campfire this has become a neat tradition for us. For those who do not have this option. Make a movie night at home with library DVD’s.
  6. Coffee you don’t make yourself- I remember last year Kelsey my oldest was away at college and she told me her food money was going faster  then usual and I look at her online meal plan and realized you was having $4 latte’s a few times a day. Making your own coffee can save!
  7. Late fees and insufficient funds fees- Credit card and bank fees can really hurt your budget. By budgeting you can keep track of payment dates and your banking to help you not pay those extra fees. y paying your charge cards weekly you can really cut the interest. I have read some credit card companies will only let you make 2 payments a month but this will help you to become debt free. Another headline or song:Debt free as free as the wind blows as free as your saving grows. Debt free!
  8. Not organized- This is something I am working on.  I have a freezer and stockpile and if you don’t know what is in you inventory it is just wasting your money. Solution: Organize and inventory!
  9. Making wants your needs- When Randy and I were first married and  we had a well we deserve it attitude. We have since changed but learned and went on. Solutions: Distinguish between wants and needs
  10. Not having a budget and plan- When we do not have a budget or plan it is killed right away we need to set goals and chart our course to sail to our ultimate goal becoming debt free!
  11. Have a blessed day, Candy
